AFRICAN LOVEBIRDS
Mr Colin Isbister
Mr Isbister started in lovebirds around 1982. Colin is one of the most successful exhibitors of Lovebirds & one of the longest standing senior judges. He is currently President of the African Lovebird Society of Australia Inc & has been for many years. Mr Isbister is a tireless worker for the Society & Breeder of a variety of Parrots.
BUDGERIGARS
Mr J Baker
Mr Baker has been breeding Caged Birds for almost 50 years. His grand-father along with his sons and daughters all had an interest in birds of all types, from Finches to Pheasants.
Mr Baker's mother and father encouraged him to breed birds and thus building up his own stock.
He started out with Red Factor Canaries, then also bred Gloster canaries for awhile, first showing in 1969 and over the years achieved a number of Champion Birds. He was elevated to judging status in 1974. After 30 years of breeding canaries, he then changed to Budgerigars in 1997 offering him a real challenge. and achieved a number of Variety winners and Champions along the way.
Mr Baker became a Senior Panel Judge in 2007, and continued the challenge of breeding and showing, James has attended both State and National Meetings since the year 2000 and along the way have enjoyed the social activities and friendships.
Mr A McCauley
Mr McCauley joined the Budgerigar Society of New South Wales in 1984 where he became involved in the running of the local branch in various positions including ten years on the Societies Show Committee. Mr McCauley's interest in judging budgerigars began in the late eighties when he was accepted as a trainee Judge and progressed through to become a Senior Panel Judge in NSW and then was able to gain his National Accreditation in May 1996.
Since then he has judged major shows both Interstate and New Zealand . At present he holds the position of Show Manager of the Illawarra Branch B.S.N.S.W. along with his judging appointments which brings his wife and himself into contact with many friends, fellow judges and breeders.
CANARIES
Mr P Southgate
Mr Southgate qualified as a Border Fancy Canary judge in 2008 and commenced Judging in 2009 and judged at Manly and Nepean.
His experience and involvement with caged birds commenced in 1958 when he went to his first show with his father Edward Southgate who was a long time member of Grafton bird club. From 1958 to 1969 they showed caged birds in the Northern Rivers and Tablelands. The types of birds they exhibited were Border Fancies, Yorkshires, Finches and Parrots. His father also judged and he would assist him on occasions.
Mr Southgate recommenced exhibiting and breeding canaries again at Wollongong in 1980 originally with Border fancies and later adding Yorkshires and Glosters.
He is a member of the Border Fancy Club of Australia, The Ryde District Canary and Cage bird Society and a member of and Treasury of the Wollongong Avicultural Society.
Mr J Farr
Mr Farr has been a prominent breeder and Exhibitor of the Border Fancy Canaries over many years. Mr Farr has won many major awards, including Two National Titles. He was appointed to the Border Fancy Canary Club of Australia judges panel in 1989 and have judged throughout New South Wales and Interstate.
He is currently involved with the Ryde District Canary and Cage Bird Soceity.
PARROTS
Mr A St Clair
Mr St Clair has been involved in birds all of his life as his father was a breeder also. He is 63 years old and still breeding parrots.
Mr St Clair was asked to judge his first Agricultural Show when he was in his early 30’s. Since then Mr St Clair has judged an average of three shows per year, last year he did five shows. He also judged at specialist bird shows all over NSW on invitation from various clubs.
In May 2003 Mr St Clair was asked to do a test by three Senior Judges of the Parrot Breeders & Exhibitors Society of NSW, and by passing this test he obtained the right to use the title “Panel Judge”. Mr St Clair judged at the Sydney Royal Cage Bird Show before, once as a Trainee Judge and a few years ago as a qualified Parrot Judge.
Mr P Mrowka
Growing up as a young boy whose parents were involved in breeding and showing Parrots and small birds. Mr Mrowka naturally joined them as well. Mr Mrowka started off with budgerigars, learning what it involves to maintain and breed healthy birds of a high standard.
Mr Mrowka has travelled all over New South Wales with his Parents and Siblings to City and Country bird shows.
In March 1990 he became a Panel Judge with the New South Wales Parrot Breeders & Exhibitors Society Incorporated and since then he has shown and bred his own wide varying range of Parrots. He has judged many Parrot shows.
In 2007, Mr Mrowka was a Parrot Judge at The Sydney Royal Easter Show, with the Royal Agricultural Society and will be judging again this year, for the 2010 Sydney Royal Cage Bird Show.
